This provides tight polyhedral examples of all surfaces with odd
$\chi \le -3$.
This does not provide smooth examples, however. (Pinkall and Kühnel's procedure for smoothing a tight polyhedral model does not apply to these models.) Otto uses a different set of models to generate smooth versions of the projective plane with three or more handles ($\chi \le -5$). |
