Wedding Season

Wedding season hits its peak here between the start of December and the end of January; for one thing, the weather's at its coolest (even a bit chilly here in Jaipur for weddings that go far on into the night), and for another, it's prime vacation time for Indians studying and working overseas. (Some people using the traditional system of arranged marriages do their spouse search from overseas, working with family and friends on the ground, and then take one or two weeks around Christmas to fly home, meet the betrothed in person for the first time, have the wedding, and fly back married.) A family friend of the Sharmas' hosted a wedding last week, and kindly invited all us videshi housemates as well. And I'll tell all about it in my next post, because I've got to shut down my computer session now, oops.
