I will be sending email to your Union College email account when I have information to share with you between classes. Sometimes this will be important for the homework or other work that you are doing, so you will want to check your email regularly between classes. If you prefer to receive your mail at an address other than your Union account, then you should forward your Union mail to that account so you don't miss it.
This is not hard to do. Here's how:
That's it! Your Union mail should be forwarded to your preferred address, so you won't have to check your Union account again!
- Log into
idol.union.edu
(the machine where you get your Union Mail).
- Create a file whose name is
.forward
in your home directory. The contents of this file should be one line of text that gives the address where you want to receive your mail. For example, if your preferred email address is
EasterBunny@aol.com
, then you can do this as follows:echo "EasterBunny@aol.com" > .forward(You should replace
EasterBunny@aol.com
by the address where you want to receive your mail.)To stop forwarding your mail, remove the
.forward
file using the command:rm .forwardYour mail will then stay onidol.union.edu
, as before.
