Grading Policy:

All work must be completed and handed in by the end of the last week of class in order to receive a passing grade for this course. The project is due at the first day of project presentations in the last week of class.

Your grade will be computed from your scores on the weekly homework assignments, the hour exams, and the final project, plus your participation in the class and the on-line discussion forum. See the homework, project, exam, and questions and summaries policy pages for details on the policies concerning them, and see the course calendar for the schedule of the homeworks and exams. See the registrar's schedule for the time and location of the final exam.

The components have the following weights:

Homework 20 %
Summaries 10 %
Hour Exam 1 20 %
Hour Exam 2 20 %
Final Project 20 %
Participation 10 %

A late or missing homework will count as a zero, and there will be no make-ups for missed howework or exams. Midterm exams can be taken early only under unusual circumstances, and only by arranging a time with the instructor at least one week in advance of the date of the exam. Since the final projects will be presented during the last week of the course and during our exam period, your final project date can not be changed once it is determined.

Recently, many math finals have been scheduled on the last day of exams and you should make travel plans accordingly. Do not purchase (or let your parents purchase) airline tickets before you know your exam schedule, as flight plans are not an acceptable reason to miss the final set of presentations.
