- "If then" and "If and only if" statements
- "For all" and "There exists" statements
- Rational and irrational numbers
- Functions, images and preimages
- Mathematical induction
- Equivalence relations and partitions
- Sizes of infinity

The course will be divided roughly into two half, the first dealing with the first four topics above, and the second half with the last four.

You main efforts during the course will be on the 6 problem sets, due weekly during the course. Please the see policy on problem sets for more about these.

There also will be a midterm exam and a final exam.
The midterm is scheduled for Friday, **May 2**.
The final exam will be scheduled by the registrar; the current
exam
schedule is not yet available.
