This image shows a red sphere intersected by a blue cylinder. The diameter of the cylinder is equal to the radius if the sphere. The cylinder goes through the center of the sphere, and is tangent to it at one a point. The line of intersection of the two surfaces is a figure-8 shown in yellow.
