Calculus, by Anton, Bivens, and Davis, 8th edition
Principles of Physics, by Serway and Jewett, 4th edition

Quiz and Exam Schedule:

Quizzes: Friday of weeks 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 9
Exams: Thursday of weeks 4 and 8

Homework, Lab Reports:

Homework: Assigned daily. Collected occasionally.
(Due dates for collected homework will be announced in advance.)

Lab Reports: Assigned and collected with each lab.

Final Grade:

40% exam average +
20% quiz average +
10% combined homework and lab average +
30% final exam

The lowest quiz grade is dropped. If the grade on the final exam is higher than the lower of the two regular exam grades, then the final exam grade will count 40% and the lower exam grade will count 10%.

Physics Department policy is that students must have a passing grade in lab in order to pass the course. All labs must be turned in.

Make-ups:

Make-up exams are disallowed except under truly unusual circumstances and require prior approval. Because the lowest quiz is dropped, make-up quizzes are always disallowed.

Academic Honesty:

Informal discussions between students about labs and homework are encouraged. However, any written material submitted for a grade must be your own individual work.

Addition Time With Faculty:

Individual or small group meetings with your professors are an important part of the course and are greatly encouraged. Times can easily be arranged simply by asking, either in person, by phone, or by e-mail.

A Note On Final Exams:

We do not give early final exams. Therefore, you should make sure that no one in your family purchases a non-refundable airline ticket for you for a departure earlier than the last scheduled final exam.
