Topics in Number Theory

Under the direction of: Karl Zimmermann

If you've taken Math 235, you know that there are many topics we just don't have time to cover. Among them are The Gaussian integers, abstract algebra, unique factorization, Fermat's Last Theorem, and sums of squares. In addition, we often cover quadratic reciprocity in 235, but there are many approaches to this theorem and it is always interesting to look at the same theorem from a different angle. If you are interested in one of these topics, or you have your own topic in number theory, please see me before sending your request to the Professor Cervone. Prerequisite: Math 235 or 221 or permission of instructor.
