Students (and professors) writing or presenting papers in the mathematical sciences often struggle with adapting familiar and accessible software tools to the demands of math-intensive output. Proprietary software designed for such tasks often requires considerable expense and effort to maintain. Is there another way? This talk will discuss the advantages, disadvantages and tasks of creating a toolkit of free open-source software applications for combining math text and visuals in a variety of formats.
