In the first part of the talk I want to give an introduction to the elementary geometric objects in Riemannian geometry on surfaces, such as the metric and the geodesics.
In the second part I want to introduce the basic concepts of projective geometry. It is my aim to explain the typical questions which appear in this context and time permitting, I will try to sketch the proof of some recent results.
