We take a more focused look at one aspect of the numerical model of the actively mode-locked laser. The actively mode-locked laser can be modelled by a partial differential equation coupled with an ordinary differential equation. An implementation of a Runge-Kutta method is used to examine this resulting system. Results of the implementation are compared to other numerical simulations. This aspect of the problem was the focus of an undergraduate research project.
