There is something in mathematics that resembles astrology. It is that certain statements about ordinary arithmetic (facts about ``life on earth'') depend on the existence or even the possibility of the existence of unimaginably large infinite numbers (``the stars''). I'll talk about such statements and develop an analogy between the mathematical universe and the universe of science and science fiction.
