Homology, inverse limits and finite elements in modules

I'll talk about what homology theories are, what homotopy is, the role of homology theories in the classification of spaces up to homotopy. This will lead to a discussion of what inverse limits of spaces are, and the difficulty of calculating their homology. Finally I'll relate the question of calculating homology of inverse limits of spaces to some problems about modules over rings.
