Conference Schedule

There will be a reception on Friday night, talks on Saturday, followed by a banquet and a party, and talks on Sunday, ending in the late afternoon. The speaker schedule has been posted. The Emerson String Quartet will be playing at Union College at 3pm on Sunday afternoon. Contact one of the organizers if you are interested in obtaining a ticket.

Registration Form

Please pre-register for the conference before October 24 by filling out the registration form or contacting one of the organizers listed below. There will be a $30 registration fee payable by mail or when you register at the conference. Checks should be made out to "Union College Mathematics Conference."



Contributed Talks

If you wish to give a 30-minute talk in one of the sessions, please contact one of the organizers of that session or complete the registration form, as soon as possible. The deadline for abstract submission is October 17.

Support

Some limited support is available from the NSF, with first priority given to students, researchers at early stages of their careers, and traditionally underrepresented groups. If you are asking for reimbursement, please fill out the reimbursement form and return it (with receipts) to Kathryn Lesh.

Directions and Travel to Union College

Union College is centrally located in New York's Capital District about 10 miles from the Albany International Airport, easily accessible by train from NYC, and just 3 to 4 hours by car from NYC, Boston, and Montreal.

By car:

From the north, south, and east: From New York State Thruway exit 24, take the Northway (I-87) north to exit 6 (marked "Route 7 west"). Follow Route 7 west for 6.5 miles and bear right onto Union Street. Continue on Union Street for 2.7 miles and enter the campus through Payne Gate (41 on campus map) on the right . To reach the math department, take the first right and follow the road until you reach a stop sign. Turn right at the stop sign, and left at the next stop sign. Parking is available on the right. The math department is in Bailey Hall (6 on campus map),

From the west: From Thruway exit 26, take I-890 east to exit 4 (Erie Boulevard). Follow Erie Boulevard north to Union Street (second light after the Amtrak station), turn right onto Union Street, and follow for one mile. Enter the campus through Payne Gate on the left (41 on campus map). To reach the math department, take the first right and follow the road until you reach a stop sign. Turn right at the stop sign, and left at the next stop sign. Parking is available on the right. The math department is in Bailey Hall (6 on campus map), the second building on the left.

By air:

The Albany Airport is a 20 minute drive from campus and is served by most major airlines, including United, American, USAirways, Delta, Northwest, Continental, and Southwest.

By train:

The Schenectady Amtrak station is a ten minute walk or short taxi ride from campus. The Albany-Rensselaer Amtrak station is a 30 minute taxi ride from campus, but has more frequent service from NYC and points south than the Schenectady station.



Directions to Campus and the Math Department from Hotels

The math department is located in Bailey Hall (6 on campus map).

From the Holiday Inn: From the main parking lot exit left onto Nott Terrace. There is an entrance to the campus (8 on campus map) approximately 2 blocks down, at the end of Nott Terrace. Note that this is a pedestrian entrance. If you are driving, turn right at the end of Nott Terrace (onto Union Street) and there will be a motor vehicle entrance on the left just before the next traffic light (41 on campus map)
