jsMath Control Panel Help

The jsMath Control Panel lets you select a number of actions to perform, or link to a variety of help files and other resources for jsMath.

The panel contains the following buttons:

• The Print button will print the frame containing the jsMath button. If jsMath is used in a multi-frame setting, only that one frame will print, not the entire page. This is particularly valuable when jsMath's global mode is used.
• The Reload button will reload the frame containin the jsMath button. If jsMath is used in a multi-frame setting, only that one frame will be refreshed, not the entire page. This is particularly valuable when jsMath's global mode is used, since reloading the complete frameset would clear the equation cache. The Reload button gives you a way to reload the displayed page without losing the cache.
• the Options button lets you bring up jsMath's Options panel that is used to control many of the features of jsMath. See the help file for the options panel for more details.
• The Go Global button lets you initiate the use of jsMath's global equation cache. (See the documentation on global mode for more information.) The Go Local button will end the use of the global cache and return to normal page operations.
• When the global cache is in use, the Controls button will display the global-mode control panel at the top of the page. See the global mode documentation for more details.
• The Hi-Res Fonts for Printing button will reload the page using higher-resolution images. These may look poor on screen, but will improve the results when the mathematics on the page is printed. If you are using an image mode and don't download the higher-resolution fonts, the printed page will include a message indicating that your results can be imrpoved, and instructing you to use this button to do so. Note that you can force hi-res fonts always to be used via a checkbox on the options panel.
• The Check for jsMath Updates button lets you contact the jsMath website to see if a newer version of jsMath is available; if so, a dialog box will be issued where you can download the new version. Note that if you are not the maintainer for the web site you are viewing, it is unlikely that you will need to use this function.
• Finally, the Done button closes the jsMath control panel.

The links at to left of the buttons take you to information about jsMath. Note in particular the link for downloading the fonts needed by jsMath. There is also a link for reporting a bug, should you find one.
